Silk reeling, or chansijin, is an integral part of Chinese arts such as Tai Chi. It is the ability to move softly, with spiral and flow, as though pulling very fine silk thread out from a cocoon. This develops great body control and focus, as well as harmonising the inner and outer aspects of the body.
On this film we use a simple Wave Hands Like Clouds movement to teach you how to generate movement in the feet, bring it up through the waist and express it out into the hands. Building on our earlier spiral movement, we now begin to move more into internal work.
